Job summary

Kaiser Permanente in Downey, CA seeks an experienced Sterile Processing Technician to decontaminate, sterilize and assemble surgical instruments and OR sets. You will maintain sterility, track PM status, and support department operations within a fast-paced hospital SPD.

You must have 2+ years in sterile processing, and either a 400-hour accredited program or Surgical Technician training. On-call with variable days and hours; strong teamwork required.

Qualifications

• Two years of recent Sterile Processing experience in an acute hospital OR or Surgical Technician role.
• Completion of an accredited Sterile Processing Program with 400 clinical hours or Surgical Technician program.
• Certification in Sterile Processing or Central Service preferred.

Responsibilities

• Fill orders from requesting departments.
• Perform instrument decontamination, cleaning, assembly and sterilization according to guidelines.
• Prepare OR case carts and ensure sterility of sets.
• Operate sterilization equipment and maintain records.
• Answer phones and support department operations.
• Inventory and restock supplies and special carts per policy.
• Work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
