Job summary

Qualifications

• One year experience in instrument processing.
• Must know Medical Terminology to understand instrumentation, surgical procedures, and surgical schedule.
• Must know how to operate Sterile Processing departmental equipment (washers, ultrasonic, steam, gas, and chemical sterilizer).
• Must know sterilization monitoring, record keeping, and quality assurance protocols.
• Ability to read and comprehend complex instructions, correspondence, and memos; communicate effectively.
• Must be willing to work in a Labor Management Partnership environment.

Responsibilities

• Infection Control - Standard Precautions and adherence to hand washing requirements.
• Quality Assurance Monitoring and documentation of QA and sterilization functions.
• Inventory, restock, and distribute instruments and supplies to the Medical Center.
• Prepare packs, instruments, and trays; process inpatient operating room instruments.
• Maintain sterilization records and comply with regulatory requirements.
• Participate in department in-services and training as needed.
