Job summary

Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center is seeking a Central Processing Technician to support the decontamination of instruments and equipment for patient safety. You will work on the Central Processing team, ensuring accurate tracking and timely tray assembly in a sterile environment.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, CPD certification, and experience with instrument tracking systems. Shifts are 8 hours from 11pm to 7am, with weekend and holiday coverage as needed.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of sterilization techniques and compliance with infection control policies.
• Ability to operate Hi-level disinfection equipment and document tasks clearly.
• Strong organizational skills and workspace cleanliness.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and prepare surgical instruments and patient care equipment for cleaning and decontamination.
• Follow hand-washing procedures and wear PPE during decontamination tasks.
• Use the instrument management system to track, identify, and document instruments during tray assembly.
• Prioritize tray and instrument assembly to meet department needs.
• Document distribution of trays and instruments during case cart assembly.
• Perform manual documentation of tasks as required.
