Job summary

The University of Southern California's Keck Hospital of USC in Los Angeles is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician II to decontaminate, assemble, sterilize, and distribute reusable surgical instruments in a fast-paced OR environment.

Under supervision, you will operate autoclaves and hydrogen peroxide sterilizers, maintain records, train others, and ensure compliance with IFU guidelines and hospital policies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of a Sterile Processing Program or accredited Surgical Technician program, or 3 years of Sterile Processing experience.
• Minimum 1 year of Sterile Processing experience.
• Basic computer knowledge (Windows OS).
• Ability to operate washers, ultrasonic cleaners, and sterilizers.
• Ability to perform multiple, complex tasks.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Current Sterile Processing Certification (HSPA, CBSPD) or CST or TS-C (CAAHEP/ABHES) and renewal.
• Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Assemble and package instrument sets per IFU.
• Operationally check instrumentation for functionality and cleanliness.
• Disassemble instruments, remove gross contamination, manual wash and load washers.
• Operate and maintain sterilization and disinfection equipment.
• Maintain sterilization documentation related to items processed.
• Dispense sterile instrumentation to OR and sterile storage.
• Maintain sterile inventory and par levels.
• Train or guide other Sterile Processing Technicians.
• Troubleshoot equipment and instrument issues.
• Coordinate with OR and other departments.
