Job summary

University of Southern California is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician II to decontaminate, assemble, sterilize and distribute surgical instrumentation across departments. You will operate autoclaves, hydrogen peroxide sterilizers, washers, and sealers while maintaining strict documentation and instrument tracking.

The role includes training colleagues, troubleshooting equipment, and coordinating with OR and ancillary departments to resolve issues.

Qualifications

• Requires High School or equivalent.
• Completion of a Sterile Processing Program or accredited Surgical Technician program.
• If no program completion, an additional three years of Sterile Processing Tech experience.
• Minimum 1 year Sterile Processing experience.
• Current Sterile Processing Certification (HSPA/CBSPD) or CST/TS-C from AABB or ABHES/CAAHEP.

Responsibilities

• Decontaminate, assemble, sterilize and distribute reusable surgical instrumentation.
• Operate autoclave and hydrogen peroxide sterilizers, sonic equipment, washers and heat sealers.
• Maintain sterilization documentation and quality assurance records.
• Prepare OR case carts and ensure items are properly labeled and tracked.
• Train or guide other Sterile Processing Technicians; troubleshoot equipment and instrument issues.
