Job summary

Memorial Hermann is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician to prepare and package surgical instruments for sterilization in a fast-paced hospital setting.

Role requires a high school diploma or GED plus one year of related healthcare training, plus certification or progression toward CBSPD/IAHCSMM within one year of hire. You will work in a team to ensure safe, accurate instrument handling and sterilization processes.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED with one year of formal training in a related allied/clinical healthcare profession.
• Licenses/Certifications: CBSPD or IAHCSMM certification required or must obtain within one year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Fundamental knowledge of Sterile Processing department rules, procedures and processes.
• Accurately handles and cares for instruments/equipment, selecting cleaning agents, lubricants, and preparing for sterilization.
• Identifies, documents, and reports equipment/tools in need of repair and coordinates maintenance.
• Organizes, prepares, assembles, and sterilizes instruments, equipment and supplies to hospital standards.
• Peel-packing and wrapping of instruments, inspecting for use, function, completeness and cleanliness.
• Loads, monitors, operates and maintains cleaning and sterilization equipment safely.
• Maintains records of equipment and supplies, orders supplies, and monitors quality control and infection control standards.
• Supports ongoing education and serves as a mentor to less experienced staff.
• Delivers compassionate, safe, and efficient care in alignment with Memorial Hermann service standards.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
