Job summary

Memorial Hermann Health System is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician to prepare and package surgical instruments for sterilization. The role requires attention to detail, strong teamwork, and ability to follow instructions. Evening shift from 3:00 pm to 11:30 pm in our Sugar Land facility.

Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED, and certification or the ability to obtain CBSPD/IAHCSMM within one year. Minimum 1 year in sterile processing or related clinical setting is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; formal training in allied/clinical healthcare is required.
• Certification by CBSPD or IAHCSMM is required or must be obtained within 1 year of hire.
• Minimum 1 year of Sterile Processing or related allied/clinical healthcare experience.

Responsibilities

• Handle and care for instruments and equipment per sterilization standards.
• Prepare instruments for sterilization, including cleaning agents, lubrication, and inspection.
• Identify, document, and report equipment needing repair; ensure maintenance is completed.
• Assemble, wrap, and sterilize instruments per hospital standards.
• Maintain records and monitor quality control and infection control standards.
• Support department goals and participate in continuing education and competency requirements.
