Job summary

Yale New Haven Health is seeking a Sterile Processing Department Technician to support decontamination, assembly, sterilization, and distribution of surgical instruments. You will work within a team, adhere to SPD SOPs, and use ABACUS for instrument tracking and inventory.

The role requires a HS diploma or GED, at least 6 months of central service experience or an equivalent credential, and readiness to obtain required credentials within 24 months.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Six months of central service technician experience or equivalent certification.
• Must obtain IAHCSMM or CBSPD credential within 24 months of hire if not already.
• Willingness to learn Instrument Tracking System (ABACUS) and other SPD tools.

Responsibilities

• Foster teamwork and effective communication within the department.
• Use Instrument Tracking System (ABACUS) and other systems for inventory and scheduling.
• Record and monitor indicators to ensure sterility for customers.
• Perform SPD duties: decontamination, assembly, sterilization, and distribution.
