Job summary

Yale NewHaven Health is seeking a Sterile Processing Department (SPD) technician to perform decontamination, assembly, sterilization and distribution of instruments for the operating rooms and patient care areas.

As part of the SPD team, you will ensure instrument quality, maintain records, use ABACUS for tracking, and participate in ongoing credentialing and education to meet regulatory requirements within 24 months of hire.

Qualifications

• Requires six (6) months of experience as a central service technician in a health care facility, or certification by IAHCSMM or CBSPD.
• Must be competent to perform decontamination, assembly, sterilization and distribution.
• Must obtain credential within 24 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Fosters an environment conducive to teamwork and effective communication.
• Participates in department and cross-functional team activities as needed.
• Records and monitors indicators and ensures sterility per policy.
• Performs SPD functions including decontamination, cleaning, sterilization and distribution per SOP.
