Job summary

UofL Health University Hospital – UMC in Louisville, KY is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician to support decontamination, sterilization and storage of surgical instruments. You will prepare case carts, inspect and package instruments, and ensure instrument integrity while maintaining a safe, efficient environment.

This role provides preceptor support to new staff, adheres to AAMI, AORN and CDC guidelines, and contributes to department organization, safety and patient care by delivering

Qualifications

• Understanding of policies, procedures and regulatory requirements.
• Ability to work independently in decontamination and sterilization workflows.
• Commitment to safety and compliance with AAMI, AORN and CDC guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Answers telephone promptly and assists callers with obtaining items needed.
• Assembles supplies and places into case carts for procedures.
• Delivers sterile and non-sterile instrumentation, supplies and equipment hospital-wide.
• Inspects, assembles, and packages all decontaminated instruments for cleanliness and functionality.
• Operates processing equipment and performs sterilization and related monitoring activities.
• Maintains department organization, cleanliness, and stock levels; provides quality customer service.
• Acts as a preceptor for new employees and supports training as needed.
