Job summary

UofL Health's University Hospital - UMC in Louisville is seeking a Sterile Processing Tech to ensure the OR staff has correct, fully functional sterile instrumentation and to deliver items promptly in accordance with AAMI, AORN, and CDC guidelines.

The role covers decontamination, prep and pack, sterilization, and dispatch, with duties including cart delivery, inventory, and maintaining product readiness throughout the SPD.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1 year healthcare experience preferred.
• Nationally recognized Sterile Processing certification required within 12 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assist in decontamination, prep and pack, sterilization, and dispatch of instruments.
• Deliver scheduled and unscheduled case carts to the Surgery Department and other areas.
• Inventory and back-up case carts; ensure packaging integrity and instrument readiness.
• Inspect, assemble, and package decontaminated reusable instruments and sets.
• Operate processing equipment and monitor sterilization cycles per standards.
• Adhere to HIPAA, safety procedures, and maintain department cleanliness and organization.
