Job summary

The University of Iowa is seeking a Central Service Tech I for the Turn Center in Iowa City on the 2nd shift, Saturday through Wednesday, 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM. This full‑time position is located at Medical Center University.

Under supervision, you will decontaminate, prepare, package, sterilize, store, and distribute sterile medical devices. You will monitor inventory, perform quality checks, and document processes to ensure patient safety.

Qualifications

• High school graduation or equivalent.
• One year experience in a hospital-related field provides background in sterile technique.

Responsibilities

• Decontaminates, inspects, cleans, and assembles instrument trays and implants.
• Performs sterilization, packaging inspection, and documents processing.
• Manages inventory and replenishes stock; uses computer systems for tracking.
• Labels, seals and documents items; participates in quality assurance.
• Handles high volumes of complex equipment; responds to emergencies and urgent cases.
• Performs regular biological monitoring of sterilizers and preventive maintenance.
