Job summary

The University of Iowa is hiring for full-time Central Service Technicians on 3rd shift. Work hours are Monday–Friday, 11:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m., with rotating on-call, weekends and holidays, in Coralville or Iowa City campuses.

Under supervision, you will handle sterile processing tasks including decontamination, packaging, sterilization, storage and inventory, plus equipment maintenance and documentation in a fast-paced medical environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with science and math coursework.
• One year hospital-related experience preferred.
• Ability to move 25 lbs and perform repetitive motions.

Responsibilities

• Decontaminates, inspects, cleans, sorts, disassembles and reassembles instrument trays and implants; operates endoscope and other washers.
• Performs microbicidal processes and follows safety guidelines.
• Assembles instrument trays and documents items processed; handles urgent add-ons and calls for items.
• Performs sterilization per manufacturers' instructions and verifies parameters.
• Manages inventory and stock levels using computer software; restocks and records usage.
• Performs biological monitoring of sterilizers, conducts preventative maintenance, and participates in in-service programs.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
