Job summary

UofL Health is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician to support the OR by delivering sterile instruments and supplies with precision and timeliness. You will decontaminate, prep and pack, sterilize, and dispatch instruments while maintaining high standards of customer service.

Responsibilities include receiving and delivering case carts, inventory management, and ensuring compliance with AAMI, AORN, and CDC guidelines. A healthcare background and HIPAA awareness are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or equivalent is required.
• One year of healthcare experience in a clinical capacity is preferred.
• Nationally recognized Sterile Processing certification required within 12 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Answers telephone promptly and assists caller with obtaining items needed.
• Assembles supplies and places into case carts for procedures.
• Delivers case carts to the Surgery Department.
• Inventories and delivers back-up case carts to the Surgery Department and required areas.
• Performs cleaning and decontamination of instruments and sets to ensure cleanliness and functionality.
• Performs dispatch duties and maintains department organization and stock levels.
• Complies with HIPAA privacy and security requirements and department policies.
