Job summary

Advocate Sherman Hospital is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician for a full-time role in our Sterile Processing Services department. The 40-hour schedule runs PM shift from 3:00 pm to 11:30 pm, Monday through Friday, with weekend and annual holiday rotation required.

Requirements include a high school diploma and CRCST certification (or equivalent) within 18 months of hire. Prior sterile processing or healthcare experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma is required.
• 1 year sterile processing or related healthcare experience preferred.
• CRCST certification (or equivalent) within 18 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Wears proper protective attire when performing decontamination.
• Follows established procedures to ensure decontamination and correct handling of patient care equipment.
• Collects soiled/reusable equipment as scheduled for each shift following transport procedures.
• Maintains a neat and clean work area at all times.
• Reports equipment operating issues to the supervisor.
• Cleans and disinfects equipment and work area after shift.
• Handles infectious waste according to hospital procedures.
