Job summary

Advocate Health's High Point Medical Center is seeking a Sterile Processing Services technician to join the team in a full-time, on-site role with a 40-hour workweek and a 3pm-11pm schedule. You will operate steam and low-temperature sterilizers, prepare instruments, maintain documentation, and support the OR with case carts while following safety policies.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.

Responsibilities

• Operates all department machinery and promptly reports issues to the Instrument Processing Supervisor or Lead Instrument Technician.
• Performs manual and/or automated decontamination of instruments.
• Inspects instruments to ensure cleanliness and proper functionality.
• Assembles instruments into containers according to count sheets.
• Packages instruments according to manufacturer's instructions.
• Performs sterilization and verifies adequacy of the sterilization process.
• Maintains documentation of sterilization processes.
• Stores sterile containers in identified location.
• Assembles case carts according to the picklist and deliver to the OR.
• Participates in the department's weekday surge plan and weekend call.
• Assists other team members as needed.
• Protects self, coworkers, and facility by following policies and procedures concerning the prevention of spreading blood borne and or airborne contaminates/diseases.
