Job summary

Rochester General Hospital – 1425 Portland Avenue, Rochester, NY 14621, is seeking a Sterile Processing Tech for evening shifts (3pm–11:30pm). The role processes and distributes sterile goods, ensuring quality and cost efficiency for patient care.

The position requires national central service credentials (CRCST or CSPDT) or grandfathering, with certification milestones within 18 months of hire. Physical requirements and strict safety standards apply.

Qualifications

• Successfully passed a nationally accredited central service exam and holds CRCST or CSPDT, or qualifies by grand-fathering based on prior service.
• Central Service Technician certification must be obtained within 18 months of hire if not grandfathered.
• Sterile Processing certification must be obtained within 18 months after employment if Hard to Fill clause is used. Provisional IAHCSMM must become complete within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Process and supply sterile goods to hospital areas, including decontamination, packing, sterilization and distribution.
• Maintain clean, stocked areas and ensure timely availability of supplies across hospital and affiliates.
• Report any stock or supply gaps to the appropriate parties for replenishment.
• Distribute required supplies and equipment throughout the hospital following department procedures.
• Adhere to all policies, keeping work areas organized and compliant with safety standards.
