Job summary

Maine Medical Center Portland’s Sterile Processing Department seeks a hands-on Supervisory Leader to oversee workflow, coordinate staff schedules, and ensure efficient, compliant service in a high-volume setting with 40 operating rooms and Level I trauma capabilities.

The role involves working on the floor with the team, guiding daily operations, and ensuring high-quality outcomes while aligning with hospital policies and budgets.

Qualifications

• Education: High School education preferred. Associate Degree preferred.
• License/Certifications: Requires CSD Technician Certification.
• Experience: Prior leadership experience on a progressive level of 2-5 yrs. required.
• Interpersonal skills necessary for effective leadership of assigned personnel and in order to collaborate with a variety of personnel throughout the hospital to meet the needs of the department.
• Highly independent functioning with the analytical ability to prepare work schedules, prioritize work assignments, maintain a variety of records and assist in the development of department policies, procedures, budgets.
• High level of problem solving and decision making skills.
• Ability to utilize department and hospital wide computer software programs.
• Must be able to rotate off shifts for supervision of off shift staff at intervals.

Responsibilities

• Oversee workflow on the floor and support staff to ensure efficient operations.
• Coordinate schedules and supervise the Sterile Processing team.
• Ensure high-quality service and regulatory compliance in a fast-paced OR environment.
• Collaborate with nursing and surgical teams to meet daily case volume.
