Job summary

Mary Washington Healthcare is seeking an experienced Sterile Processing leader to supervise the department, coordinate decontamination, preparation, packaging and sterilization of surgical instruments, and manage staff development programs.

The role requires managing costs within budget, ensuring compliance with infection control standards, developing policies, and collaborating with other departments to meet patient care needs.

Qualifications

• Requires leadership and staff development能力 to supervise and evaluate department staff.
• Experience developing and implementing policies and procedures in sterile processing.
• Strong communication and critical thinking to collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams.
• Familiarity with asepsis, decontamination, disinfection, sterilization and infection control principles.
• Knowledge of sterilization regulatory guidelines and inventory control.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and evaluate Sterile Processing staff.
• Prepare departmental reports (financial, budget, personnel).
• Develop and update policies and procedures; ensure adherence.
• Maintain costs at budget level and optimize resource use.
• Coordinate processing and reassembly of supplies and instrumentation with user departments.
• Establish quality control systems for infection control and sterilization operations.
