Job summary

Responsibilities

• Selects, trains, orients and assigns department staff. Develops standards of performance evaluates performance and conducts performance management planning.
• Initiates or makes recommendations for personnel actions and maintains ongoing communication with subordinates to review programs, provide feedback, discuss new developments and exchange information.
• Develops, implements and ensures compliance with department goals, objectives, policies and procedures and governmental regulations.
• Develops and recommends department operating and capital budget. Ensures the department operates within the determined budget.
• Directs the requisitioning, sorting, labeling and issuing of equipment and instrumentation. Oversees and maintains an instrument tracking system.
• Ensures appropriate staffing for the department and that unit activities flow smoothly.
• Establishes and oversees methods for preparing, handling and storing sterile equipment and materials in collaboration with Risk Management, Infection Prevention and the Operating Room.
