Job summary

Advocate Health’s Sterile Processing department seeks a dedicated professional to oversee the sterile cycle, guide SPD staff, and support the Supervisor in maintaining quality and compliance. The role emphasizes safety, collaboration with OR teams, and adherence to policies.

Responsibilities include equipment checks, log maintenance, and participation in departmental projects, with a strong focus on preventing disease spread and ensuring timely case cart management.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED with two years in Sterile Processing
• Certification as CSPDT or other sterile processing certification is required
• Certification in Sterile Processing Management encouraged within three years of hire

Responsibilities

• 1. Expert in all aspects of the sterile processing cycle and guide SPD employees.
• 2. Assume Sterile Processing Supervisor role when assigned.
• 3. Assist SPD Supervisor in maintaining production by leading SPD staff.
• 4. Assist with case carts management and communicate issues to SPD Supervisor.
• 5. Use strong communication with SPD Supervisor, SPD Liaisons, and OR Clinical Coordinators.
• 6. Ensure equipment functions optimally and report issues to SPD Supervisor or department.
• 7. Assist in maintaining departmental compliance logs.
• 8. Assist SPD Manager with policy implementation and enforcement.
• 9. Assist with special projects and interdepartmental committees as assigned.
• 10. Follow policies to prevent spread of bloodborne and/or airborne diseases.
