Job summary

Memorial Hermann is seeking a part-time Sterile Processing Technician for evening shifts. You will prepare, sterilize, and supply instruments and equipment for the operating room and other areas, ensuring compliance with safety and infection control standards.

The role may serve as lead technician on the shift and requires CBSPD or IAHCSMM certification or eligibility, HS diploma, and at least two years of experience in sterilization. Strong teamwork and attention to detail are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• CBSPD or IAHCSMM certification required.
• CIS or CSIS certification preferred.
• Minimum of two years of experience in sterilization of instruments and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Function as lead technician/charge person on the shift when needed.
• Obtain and maintain sterile processing department knowledge and procedures.
• Handle and care for instruments/equipment including cleaning agent selection, lubrication, inspection, and assembly.
• Identify, document and report equipment needing repair and ensure maintenance is completed.
• Assemble, sterilize and wrap instruments; verify cleanliness and function.
• Operate and monitor cleaning and sterilization equipment safely.
• Maintain records of equipment and supplies; order supplies as needed.
• Communicate delays and equipment problems to OR and other areas.
• Expand knowledge by taking on more complex tasks regularly.
• Ensure safe patient, staff and visitor care; adhere to policies and budget.
• Support education and development; mentor less experienced staff.
• Model Memorial Hermann service standards with compassionate and efficient care.
• Other duties as assigned.
