Job summary

The Medical University Hospital Authority (MUHA) within MUSC Health seeks a Certified SPD Supervisor to coordinate daily Sterile Processing operations. Under supervision, you will lead staff, ensure instrument processing, decontamination and case assembly in compliance with policy and regulatory requirements.

You will liaise with other departments to maintain service quality. Responsibilities include staffing, training, record-keeping, and vendor coordination.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Must be certified and maintain a certification in sterile processing and as an instrument specialist from IAHCSMM.
• Certification in SPD leadership/management from IAHCSMM within 6 months if not already held.
• At least 2 years’ experience in sterile processing.
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing; basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Assesses department activities and staff performance; provides direction as needed.
• Delegates responsibilities to maintain efficient operations.
• Participates in staff selection and maintains staffing levels.
• Orients, trains and evaluates personnel to meet objectives.
• Maintains records and reports; ensures accuracy of sterilizer records and statistics.
• Directs supplies and equipment handling; place orders and audit deliveries.
• Adheres to AORN & AAMI standards and practices.
