Job summary

MEDRVA Healthcare is seeking a working team lead for the Sterile Processing department in Richmond, VA. The role supervises sterile processing staff during shifts, ensuring quality and productivity while adhering to infection control policies and AAMI, AORN, and AAAHC standards.

The position acts as a liaison with the OR to ensure instruments are ready on time, supports department customers, and participates in quality improvement and staff development.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• CRCST or CSPDT certification required at hire.
• Minimum of five years experience in sterile reprocessing preferred; knowledge of AAMI standards required.
• Functional knowledge of sterilization regulatory guidelines required.
• Experience with instrument tracking programs preferred.

Responsibilities

• Schedule and supervise staff to ensure smooth workflow and proper department processes.
• Train and evaluate staff; set goals and provide coaching and development.
• Coordinate decontamination, instrument inspection, cleaning, assembly and packaging workflows.
• Monitor inventory, procurement, and stocking; optimize par levels.
• Track equipment, arrange repairs, and document lost or damaged items.
• Communicate with OR and ancillary departments; support quality improvement initiatives.
