Job summary

Atrium Health is seeking a Sterile Processing Education Lead at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center - Sterile Processing Services. The role focuses on directing orientation, ongoing staff education, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards across shifts and locations.

The ideal candidate will have CSPDT/CRCST certification, five years of Sterile Processing experience, and strong communication skills to train staff and coordinate programs across hospital departments.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required
• Certification as CSPDT or CRCST or similar sterile processing certification required
• Five years' experience in Sterile Processing or completion of accredited certificate with three years in Sterile Processing
• Excellent oral and written communication; proficient in Microsoft Office

Responsibilities

• Oversees orientation and training for all new employees and ongoing education for staff
• Demonstrates expert knowledge in central sterile processing and serves as a resource to staff
• Provides education on regulatory standards, current clinical practices, and safety standards
• Maintains and updates orientation manuals and skills checklists
• Creates individualized training plans for new employees and conducts weekly assessments
• Assesses preceptors' competency to ensure effective onboarding
• Coordinates in-service schedules for new instruments and education programs
• Maintains in-service records and ensures staff have necessary information
• Adjusts schedules to accommodate all shifts and weekend/night opportunities
• Communicates educational needs with SPD Manager
• Liaisons with OR Clinical Education Resource Team and supports OR staff education as needed
• Protects staff by following policies to prevent spread of bloodborne and airborne diseases
