Job summary

Cleveland Clinic Hillcrest Hospital is offering a Sterile Processing Technician Apprentice program. You will split time between on-site work and classes at New Bridge, progressing toward Certified Registered Central Service Technician upon completion.

Shift is days with a structured schedule; the apprenticeship runs from November 9, 2026 to March 19, 2027, leading to an evening shift after training. Training occurs on-site with mentoring from experienced caregivers.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Maintain good standing in partnered school’s Sterile Processing Certification program.
• Sterile Processing Distribution Certification within 18 months of hire date.

Responsibilities

• Become familiar with all areas of sterile processing and portions of the Surgical Suite, including decontamination and sterilization of instruments.
• Identify and inspect instrumentation to recognize missing or malfunctioning parts.
• Assist with collecting and cleaning instruments and equipment after use on patient procedure.
• Assist with wrapping or placing equipment or instruments needing sterilization in containers.
• Identify and use all methods of sterilization available in the Sterile Processing/OR department.
• Maintain SPD inventory processes and assist in maintaining an adequate inventory of instruments, equipment and supplies.
