Pardee UNC Health Care in North Carolina is offering a trainee position designed to help learners meet the requirements for the Central Sterile Tech role. This on-site program provides hands-on experience aligned with your Sterile Processing/Surgical Technologist studies.

The role includes education on instrument inspection, decontamination, cleaning, and tray assembly, with duties coordinating supplies and case carts across SPD and surgical areas. Part-time schedule.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; higher-level degree may satisfy this requirement.
• Current enrollment in a Community College Sterile Processing program or 6 months’ work experience in a healthcare setting.
• Preferably in the same facility that will provide training.
• Adherence to infection control norms including PPE and sanitation.

Responsibilities

• Receive education on instrument inspection for cleanliness and functionality.
• Learn instrument assembly, tracking, and preparation for sterilization.
• Learn decontamination, disinfection, and cleaning of instruments.
• Clean completed case carts from SPD to surgical areas.
• Transport dirty case carts from staging to SPD decontamination area.
• Conduct soiled pick up rounds for patient care equipment and trays.
• Assist with supply restocking.
• Assist with OR presoak instrument decontamination and cleaning.
• Report instrument malfunctions and route for repair.
• Adhere to infection control norms and update to departmental policies.
