Job summary

Cleveland Clinic Hillcrest Hospital is offering a Sterile Processing Technician Apprenticeship. The program runs November 9, 2026 to March 19, 2027, with mixed on-site work and class time at New Bridge. Apprentices will learn decontamination, sterilization, and instrument handling under experienced caregivers.

Starting pay is $15.75 per hour with a $1.75 shift differential. After completing New Bridge, you may move to evenings 3:00 p.m.–11:30 p.m. and pursue CRCST/CSPDT certification.

Qualifications

• Minimum qualifications include positivity, reliability, professionalism, initiative, respect, gratitude and integrity.
• Desire to care for patients, be part of a team and serve the community.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Maintain good standing in the partnered school's Sterile Processing Certification program.
• Certification in Sterile Processing Distribution (CRCST, CSPDT, CER, CER) within 18 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Become familiar with all areas of sterile processing and instrument setup.
• Identify and inspect instrumentation for missing or malfunctioning parts.
• Assist with cleaning and preparing instruments for sterilization.
• Wrap or containerize equipment needing sterilization.
• Use all sterilization methods available in SPD/OR.
• Maintain SPD inventory and ensure adequate supplies.
• Prepare for the Central Service Technician test.
