Job summary

BayCare Health System in South Bend is seeking a Certified Sterile Processing Technician to perform decontamination, preparation, packaging and sterilization of medical instruments. The role also includes mentoring team members and upholding department standards.

Requirements include a High School diploma or equivalent and HSPA, CRCST, CBSPDT certifications; hospital experience is preferred. On-site position in St Josephs South with daytime hours (9am–5:30pm) and occasional weekend work.

Sterile Processing Tech - Certified Responsibilities

• Responsible for the decontamination, prepping, packaging and sterilization of all instrumentation processed through the department following established department procedures.
• Acts as preceptor, mentor and resource in support of department team members.
• Required specific skills also includes knowledge of decontamination processes, preparation, and packaging, sterilization techniques based on manufacturer recommendations, and storage of sterilized items, as well as knowledge of sterile technique, instrumentation, equipment, and sterile field set-up and interpreting policies, procedures, and protocols and reviewing performance in compliance with recognized standards.

Requirements

• High School or Equivalent
• HSPA (Health System Performance Assessment), CRCST (Certified Registered Central Service Technician), CBSPDT (Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution Technicians).
