Job summary

BayCare Health System in Riverview (St Josephs South) seeks a Certified Sterile Processing Tech for PRN shifts. The role focuses on decontamination, prep, packaging and sterilization of all instrumentation per department procedures.

You will mentor staff and ensure compliance with sterilization standards. Requirements include a high school diploma and CRCST/CBSPDT certifications; hospital experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School or equivalent is required.
• Certifications in sterile processing (CRCST, CBSPDT) are required.
• Preferred hospital experience in sterile processing.

Responsibilities

• Decontaminate, prep, package and sterilize instrumentation per procedures.
• Serve as a preceptor and mentor for department team members.
• Maintain knowledge of sterile technique and equipment; review policies for compliance.

• Responsible for the decontamination, prepping, packaging and sterilization of all instrumentation processed through the department following established department procedures.
• Acts as preceptor, mentor and resource in support of department team members.
• Required specific skills also includes knowledge of decontamination processes, preparation, and packaging, sterilization techniques based on manufacturer recommendations, and storage of sterilized items, as well as knowledge of sterile technique, instrumentation, equipment, and sterile field set-up and interpreting policies, procedures, and protocols and reviewing performance in compliance with recognized standards.

• HSPA (Health System Performance Assessment), CRCST (Certified Registered Central Service Technician), CBSPDT (Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution Technicians).
