Job summary

McLaren Health Care in Grand Blanc, MI, is seeking a Pharmacy Technician for the Pharmacy department. Work hours are days, 6:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m., with a 80-hour biweekly schedule; pay ranges $19.20–$23.82 per hour based on experience.

The technician will compound and dispense medications under supervision, prepare IV admixtures, manage inventory with Omnicell, and ensure accurate data entry and billing per procedures. Equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• Possess high school diploma or equivalent.
• Licensed to practice as a Pharmacy Technician in Michigan.
• 6 months of job-related experience or completion of a pharmacy technician-training program or currently enrolled in an accredited school of pharmacy.
• Trained in age-specific categories: neonate, infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric.
• Ability to operate office related equipment (computer terminal).

Responsibilities

• Under the direct supervision of a registered pharmacist, weighs measures and mixes ingredients compounds and prepares medications, emulsions, liquids, powders, and ointments using equipment.
• Replenishes medications in emergency crash carts, EMT boxes, or floor stock
• Accurately fills bottles, capsules, or other package forms with measured amounts of medication.
• Prepackages bulk medications in unit dose packages accurately within specified time periods.
• Delivers prescriptions to nursing stations.
• Files physician’s orders.
• Data entry of physicians orders and patient information into pharmacy computer system.
• Utilizes automated dispensing technology (Omnicell) for inventory and storage.
• Charges appropriate patient and/or patient care area for medications and supplies.
• Organizes outdated or overstocked medications to ship back to manufacturers for credit.
• Dispenses additives for IV and irrigating solutions; prepares IV additive solutions with aseptic technique.
• Prepares intravenous admixtures or other sterile products (including chemotherapy) accurately.
• Cleans the laminar flow hood and workspace.
• Prepares reports on IV activity daily, weekly, and monthly.
