Job summary

Deaconess Illinois Medical Center is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for the Step Down ICU/PCU on night shifts. You will provide advanced nursing care to high-acuity patients transitioning from ICU to recovery, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team.

This role emphasizes critical thinking, clinical judgment, and compassionate patient support, with a strong focus on documentation, safety, and family education.

Qualifications

• Current RN license in the State of Illinois.
• Graduate of an accredited School of Professional Nursing.
• Current BLS certification (AHA or Red Cross) on hire.
• ACLS or ALS certification within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate personalized patient care plans.
• Monitor cardiac rhythms, vital signs and neurological status.
• Administer medications and therapies per orders and protocols.
• Use and monitor advanced monitoring equipment.
• Coordinate care with physicians and other healthcare professionals.
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatment and recovery.
• Maintain accurate documentation and promote patient safety.
