Job summary

University of California, Merced is seeking a part-time Non-Senate tutor for Fall 2026 through Spring 2027 to support Math, Bio, Physics, Chem, ENGR and CSE tutoring in an open center format.

You will help students build problem-solving strategies, explain concepts, and maintain an inclusive, welcoming center environment while following the Employee Handbook and attending training events.

Qualifications

• Overall GPA of 3.0 or higher.
• Grades of B or higher earned in tutored subjects.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively with students from diverse backgrounds.
• Patience and interest in assisting students.
• Strong grasp of course concepts.

Responsibilities

• Tutor in an open tutoring center format to reinforce course material.
• Assist students in finding their own answers and learning methods.
• Create an inclusive learning environment and explain center functions.
• Review Employee Handbook and attend pedagogical training events.
