Job summary

Onward We Learn seeks a part-time STEM tutor to support middle and high school students in math and/or science. The role involves in-person tutoring at program sites and on-demand virtual sessions, with a commitment through the academic year.

Ideal candidates are current/former teachers or college students with a passion for education and strengthening foundational skills. Availability includes Tuesdays 3:00–5:00 PM and occasional Fridays; familiarity with assessment prep and fostering

Qualifications

Completion of at least two years of college coursework toward a bachelor's degree.
Background in STEM, K-12 education, youth development, or related field.
For Math tutors - knowledge of Algebra I, II, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, and Calculus.
For Science tutors - knowledge of middle school science and related topics.
Experience tutoring middle or high school students.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Proficiency with Microsoft 365 and related tech.

Responsibilities

Provide Math and/or Science tutoring to middle and high school students in-person or virtually.
Differentiate instruction to meet individual learning needs.
Help students prepare for math/science assessments and exams.
Build positive relationships with students and families.
Maintain detailed and confidential records of student progress.
Collaborate with staff to monitor progress and improve programs.
Participate in staff meetings and professional development.
