Job summary

The Research Foundation at Farmingdale State College in Farmingdale, NY seeks a full-time Counselor for the Collegiate Science and Technology Entry Program (CSTEP) to support economically disadvantaged students pursuing STEM careers through advising, career planning, and wraparound academic services.

You will coordinate workshops, assist with internships and research opportunities, track student engagement, and collaborate with campus offices to help students succeed.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a Bachelor's degree.
• Experience working within a college-related setting supporting economically disadvantaged students or other program with similar mission.
• Excellent oral and written communication abilities.
• Proficiency with social media platforms, Microsoft Office, and Google Suite.

Responsibilities

• Provide academic, career, financial aid guidance, and personal development services to an assigned caseload of students.
• Meet individually and in small groups with students to provide personal, academic, career guidance, and assist with implementation of intervention plans.
• Assist students in their preparation for internships, research opportunities, and post-graduation plans.
• Help students prepare applications for research opportunities, internships, graduate school, etc.
• Work collaboratively with campus departments such as Financial Aid, Registrar, and academic offices to provide wraparound student services.
