Position Description

The CSTEP Coordinator, Collegiate Science and Technology EntryProgram (CSTEP), serves as a key member of the Pathways Center teamand provides holistic advising, student success coaching, careerdevelopment, and program coordination for CSTEP participants. CSTEPprovides academic enrichment, research experiences, andprofessional development for eligible students pursuing majorsleading to careers in STEM and health-related fields andprofessional licensure. Working collaboratively with the CSTEP team, faculty, academicdepartments, Jasper Central, the Pathways Center, and other campusand external partners, the CSTEP Coordinator supports studentsthroughout their academic and professional journeys. The positionmaintains an assigned caseload of up to 100 students and helpsparticipants connect their academic experiences with careerexploration, experiential learning, research, professionallicensure, graduate and professional school, and employment. The CSTEP Coordinator also coordinates CSTEP programming andsignature events, contributes to student recruitment and retentioninitiatives, supports the CSTEP Summer Program, and tracks studentparticipation and outcomes for program assessment and statereporting. The position is grant-funded, with continuation contingent upongrant renewal and available funding.

Job Responsibilities
Student Success Coaching and Advising
  • Serve as the primary advisor and success coach for an assignedcaseload of up to 100 CSTEP students.
  • Provide continuous wrap-around support across a student’sacademic career, focused on academic achievement, persistence,career exploration, and post-graduate planning.
  • Conduct regular individual check-ins with students to monitoracademic progress and identify opportunities and barriers tosuccess.
  • Connect students with appropriate academic, financial aid,student support, and campus resources.
  • Maintain an open-door approach to advising and provideresponsive support to CSTEP participants.
  • Utilize University student success systems to support studentpersistence and retention.
  • Help students develop individualized academic, career, andpost-graduate plans aligned with their interests, strengths, andgoals.
Career and Post-Graduate Development
  • Support students in exploring careers that relate to theirprofessional aspirations, including professional licensure,graduate and professional education, and employment.
  • Help students understand how CSTEP experiences, includingresearch, internships, mentoring, and academic enrichment,contribute to career readiness and post-graduate preparation.
Program Development and Student Engagement
  • Serve as lead for designated CSTEP signature programs andevents, including but not limited to Alumni Night and Career FairPreparation Days.
  • Coordinate CSTEP workshops, activities, and student developmentprograms throughout the academic year.
  • Support the coordination and implementation of the CSTEPsix-week Summer Program.
  • Develop programming that supports academic achievement, careerreadiness, professional development, research, and post-graduatesuccess.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, includingfaculty and Jasper Central, to support CSTEP's mission and studentoutcomes.
  • Encourage student participation in research, internships,leadership opportunities, mentoring, and other experientiallearning activities.
Recruitment and Outreach
  • Contribute to CSTEP recruitment efforts throughout the academicyear.
  • Participate in University open houses and other recruitment andoutreach events.
  • Support the development and implementation of CSTEP marketingand recruitment campaigns.
  • Communicate the academic, research, career, and post-graduatebenefits of CSTEP to prospective and current students.
  • Develop relationships with campus partners to increaseawareness of CSTEP opportunities and eligibility.
Assessment and Program Administration
  • Track student participation, engagement, academic progress, andprogram outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate student records and programdocumentation.
  • Collect and organize data required for CSTEP statereporting.
  • Monitor student participation in CSTEP programs, activities,and services.
  • Contribute to program assessment and continuous improvementefforts.
  • Prepare reports and other documentation as required by CSTEPand the University.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as needed tosupport the mission, goals, and effective operations of theprogram.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • At least one year of experience working with college studentsin a similar program or related student support setting.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the mission of CSTEP and supportingstudents pursuing STEM and health-related fields.
  • Experience working with CSTEP, TRIO, STEM access, opportunityprograms, or other programs serving historically underrepresentedstudents preferred.
  • Experience providing academic advising, student support,mentoring, coaching, or related services.
  • Strong communication, organizational, interpersonal, eventmanagement, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, staff,students, and external partners.
  • Commitment to holistic student development, student success,and inclusive excellence.
  • Commitment to Manhattan University's Lasallian mission andvalues.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Completed or in-process Master's degree.
  • Prior familiarity with a Customer Relationship Management (CRM)application, preferably SLATE.
