Job summary

UNT Dallas Learning Commons is seeking a Professional STEM Tutor (Math) to support students through embedded tutoring in gateway math, science, and related courses. The tutor works with the Director and Learning Commons team, delivering face-to-face and online sessions, developing resources, and assisting with marketing and events.

Candidates should have a Bachelor’s degree or higher in a STEM field, tutoring experience, and excellent communication.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree or higher with coursework in related STEM field.
1‑3 years of tutoring experience in an academic setting.
Excellent communication skills.
Possess intermediate to advanced level of knowledge in subject area to be tutored.

Responsibilities

Interpret and clarify Learning Commons procedures to students, tutors, and visitors, and lead classroom presentations to advertise Learning Commons services.
Aid students in understanding concepts without giving answers or completing assignments for students.
Provide tutoring to students in the subject area, including clarification of course assignments, lectures, and tests.
Work along side faculty as an Embedded Tutor within the classrooms assigned.
Assist Learning Commons administrative staff with maintaining detailed student records; monitoring, inputting and analyzing data related to student attendance, persistence, retention, and satisfaction.
Assist administrative staff with special assignments, projects, and events.
