Job summary

The University of North Texas at Dallas is seeking a Professional STEM Tutor (Math) to support students through embedded tutoring in gateway courses, both in-person and online. You will work under the Learning Commons Director and collaborate with faculty to clarify concepts, develop learning skills, and promote tutoring services.

Minimum qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in a related STEM field and 1–3 years of tutoring experience; strong communication and basic MS Office skills are

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a related STEM field.
  • 1–3 years of tutoring experience in an academic setting.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge in the tutoring subject area.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret and clarify Learning Commons procedures to students, tutors, and visitors, and lead classroom presentations to advertise Learning Commons services.
  • Aid students in understanding concepts without giving answers or completing assignments.
  • Provide tutoring to students in the subject area, including clarification of course assignments, lectures, and tests.
  • Work alongside faculty as an Embedded Tutor within classrooms.
  • Maintain detailed student records; monitor, input, and analyze data related to attendance, persistence, retention, and satisfaction.
  • Assist administrative staff with special assignments, projects, and events.
