Metallus in Canton, OH is offering a Summer 2027 internship for a Steelmaking Maintenance Engineering Intern. The role focuses on learning CMMS and drawing systems to improve inventory management and the reliability of critical assets.

You will develop a project around a Reliability Challenge, create a tool for SMEs to identify downtime risks before it occurs, and design a simple, user-friendly process with LOTOTO enhancements for each asset.

Qualifications

• Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5.
• Must have completed 30 or more credit hours by the end of the spring 2027 semester.
• Must be a full‑time student attending an accredited two‑year or four‑year college/university.
• Preferred majors: Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related.
• Basic experience in mechanical and/or electrical print reading.

Responsibilities

• Learn to navigate CMMS and drawing systems to improve inventory management and the reliability of critical assets.
• Develop a process similar to ESB’s for a primary project focused on a “Reliability Challenge”.
• Create a tool for SMEs to use routinely to identify areas of risk and opportunities for improvement before downtime occurs.
• Design the process to be simple and user‑friendly for consistent application.
• Ensure the project captures both downtime risks and improvement opportunities.
• Incorporate enhancements to LOTOTO plans specific to each asset within the process.
