Job summary

TIC - The Industrial Company in Port Arthur, TX seeks an entry-level helper to assist skilled craftsmen in fabricating and positioning structural steel. You will read blueprints and work under supervision, supporting metal fabrication and hoisting tasks on a construction site.

Responsibilities include learning to use hand and power tools, aligning steel members, and helping with welding, cutting, and rigging. This role requires physical stamina and adherence to safety rules.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required, with field experience preferred.
• Ability to understand and follow instructions and communicate effectively with supervision.
• Field experience in the construction/industrial trades.
• Knowledge of safe and efficient use of hand and power tools and layout tools.

Responsibilities

• Learn to read specifications or blueprints to determine locations, quantities, or sizes of material.
• Assist skilled craftsman to fabricate metal parts according to blueprints or supervisor instructions.
• Assist with unloading and positioning prefabricated steel units for hoisting using cranes or signaling hoisting operators.
• Learn to verify alignment of structural steel members using plumb bobs, lasers, transits, or levels.
• Cut, bend, or weld steel pieces using shears, torches, or welding equipment.
• Assemble hoisting equipment or rigging to move heavy equipment or materials.
