Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.
• Field experience in craft discipline.
• Knowledge of the safe and efficient use of hand tools, power tools and layout tools.

Responsibilities

• Learn to read specifications or blueprints to locate locations, quantities, or sizes of material.
• Assist craftsman to fabricate metal parts, according to blueprints or supervisor instructions.
• Assist with unloading and positioning prefabricated steel units for hoisting; hoist steel beams and girders into place.
• Learn to verify vertical and horizontal alignment of structural steel members using plumb bobs, lasers, transits or levels.
• Cuts, bends, or welds steel pieces using metal shears, torches, or welding equipment.
• Assemble hoisting equipment or riggings to move heavy equipment or materials.
