Job description

IDOM is looking for an engineer with solid experience in the steelmaking industry. Experience with steelmaking, not simply steel structures, is a must.

Position Responsibilities:

This individual is intended to function as a senior metals engineer, focusing on steel product. The individual must be able to demonstrate a commitment to outstanding customer service (internal and external) and as well as a drive to succeed. Additional project support and project management responsibilities will be assigned on a project by project basis. While this is an office based position, some travel may be required. Some of the responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

• Review and perform engineering calculations, prepare specifications and technical reports, develop design details and communicate same to others. Individual is expected to be fully-versed in aspects of steel engineering for the industrial sector
• Maintaining project schedule, scope, and other limited project management functions
• Assist business development efforts by applying technical knowledge to identify and understand client needs and define scope of work requirements to support proposals.
• Coordinate effectively with other departments for multi-discipline projects
• Maintain and expand client relationships

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelors Degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Civil/Structural Engineering
• 5-15 years engineering experience in the heavy industrial sector
• 3/+ years of steelmaking industry experience; potential qualified experience can include, but is not limited to, engineering design and activity relating to: metal melting, metal rolling, etc.
• PE or ability to obtain in less than 1 year
• Experience operating as an engineer in a consulting capacity

Preferred Qualifications:

• Prior experience leading teams, without managerial authority
• Masters Degree
• Knowledge and familiarity in using relevant codes and standards
• Very strong analytical, organizational and interpersonal skills
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Proactive mindset
• $110k - $130k per year, depending on all candidate factors; such as qualifications, experience level, etc.
