Job summary

IDOM USA is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to lead mechanical design tasks for industrial facilities in a multinational team environment. The role requires piping design experience and equipment sizing, with attention to calculations, specifications, and on-site data collection.

The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, familiarity with industry software (NozzlePro, CAESAR II, AFT, ASPEN) and experience coordinating multi-disciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• Minimum Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering, with mechanical emphasis.
• Minimum 08 years’ experience in mechanical engineering for industrial applications.

Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical design tasks for industrial facilities. Prepare specifications and calculations, and communicate results to team members.
• Evaluate existing facilities and conduct design calculations, detailing, and construction monitoring as needed.
• Coordinate with other departments for multi-discipline projects and support business development efforts.
• Travel up to 20% for on-site data gathering and project support.
• Apply standard engineering techniques independently, with guidance for unusual problems.

Job description

This position is related to the industrial sector. Experience in this area is required. This position is open in Atlanta, GA and Minneapolis, MN

Position Responsibilities:

Perform mechanical design tasks for industrial facilities. Assignments will be varied and can include such items as specification preparation, design and analysis calculations, detail definition, evaluation of existing facilities, construction monitoring, or on-site data gathering. Minimum 10 years practical experience with piping design as well as equipment sizing/evaluations (pumps, compressors, mixers, etc.) is required, hydraulic design and capacity assessment considered a plus. This position is expected to be at a high level where the individual able to make most evaluations independently, selecting and applying standard engineering techniques and procedures, using judgement when making minor adaptations and modifications. Assistance would be given for unusual problems. While this is an office-based position, some travel may be required. Some of the responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

• Review and perform engineering calculations, prepare specifications and technical reports, develop design details and communicate same to others. Individual is expected to be fully versed in aspects of structural engineering for the industrial sector: including the analysis and design of steel and concrete structures and foundation systems
• Applicable experience sectors may include Power, Manufacturing, Petrochemical, Pulp & Paper, and/or Mining
• Assist business development efforts by applying technical knowledge to identify and understand client needs and define scope of work requirements to support proposals.
• Coordinate effectively with other departments for multi-discipline projects
• Maintain and expand client relationships

Minimum Qualifications:

• Minimum Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering, with mechanical emphasis.
• Minimum 08 years’ experience in mechanical engineering for industrial applications. Applicable experience sectors may include: Power, Manufacturing, Petrochemical, Pulp & Paper, and/or Mining.

Preferred Qualifications:

• PE license, having this license will increase maximum possible salary by an additional $15,000
• Experience with construction observation will be considered a plus.
• Spanish language proficiency is a plus.

Key Skills:

• Viable candidate will be a flexible and dynamic team player capable of integrating into an international team.
• Candidate must have excellent analytical skills and proficiency in any one of the industry standard piping analysis programs such as: NozzlePro, CAESAR II, AFT Software, ASPEN or similar.
• AutoCad or Revit experience is a plus.
• Ability to travel for work (<20%)
• $120k to $140k ($155k PE) per year, depending on all candidate factors, such as qualifications, experience level, etc
