Job summary

IDOM USA in Minneapolis seeks a senior structural engineer and project manager to lead industrial structural projects. The role emphasizes outstanding client service, driving project success, and effective communication with internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities include design calculations, specifications, schedules, budgets, business development support, and cross‑d functional coordination. Some travel may be required as projects dictate.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from ABET accredited university or equivalent.
• 8+ years of experience in industrial structural design and/or project management.
• Familiarity with ASCE 7, IBC, AISC, ACI codes and standards.

Responsibilities

• Review and perform engineering calculations, prepare specifications and technical reports for industrial structural projects.
• Maintain project schedule, scope, profitability, and other project management functions.
• Assist business development by applying technical knowledge to identify client needs and define scope of work for proposals.
• Coordinate with other departments for multi-discipline projects.
• Maintain and expand client relationships.

Job description

This position is related to the industrial sector. Experience in this area is required.

Position Responsibilities:

This individual is intended to function as a senior structural engineer/project manager. The individual must be able to demonstrate a commitment to outstanding customer service (internal and external) and as well as a drive to succeed. Additional project support and project management responsibilities will be assigned on a project-by-project basis. While this is an office-based position, some travel may be required. Some of the responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

• Review and perform engineering calculations, prepare specifications and technical reports, develop design details and communicate same to others. Individual is expected to be fully versed in aspects of structural engineering for the industrial sector: including the analysis and design of steel and concrete structures and foundation systems.
• Maintaining project schedule, scope, profitability, and other project management functions
• Assist business development efforts by applying technical knowledge to identify and understand client needs and define scope of work requirements to support proposals.
• Coordinate effectively with other departments for multi-discipline projects
• Maintain and expand client relationships

Minimum Qualifications:

• Minimum B.S. degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an ABET accredited University or equal
• Minimum of 8 years of experience with industrial structural design and/or project management
• Thorough knowledge and familiarity in using relevant codes and standards, such as ASCE 7, IBC, AISC, ACI

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master's Degree
• PE License
• Knowledge and familiarity in using relevant codes and standards, such as ASCE 7, IBC, AISC, ACI
• Very strong analytical, organizational and interpersonal skills
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Individual must have a work history which represents increasing responsibility, inclusive of leadership without authority
• $120k - $150k per year, depending on all candidate factors: qualifications, experience level, etc.
