Job summary

Consolidated Edison Company of New York, Inc. seeks an Operating Mechanic A L1-2 for Steam Operations at the 60th St facility. The role involves operating boilers and supporting plant systems to meet demand while ensuring safety and reliability.

The position requires a High School Diploma or GED with related power plant or maritime experience; a Bachelor's in Engineering is preferred. Driver's license is required and heavy physical work is expected in varied conditions.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED and 1 year of relevant Power Plant, Merchant Marine or United States Navy related maritime experience.
• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering preferred; knowledge of boiler water chemistry and steam cycles is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Operate boilers, fans, pumps and all auxiliary equipment in a steam generating station.
• Engage in mechanical maintenance tasks and heavy manual labor.
• Flex across the station’s operating posts, including Rover and Control Room; perform high-voltage electrical switching.
• Work with steam production, boiler feed pumps, fans and related equipment; manage water treatment and fuel delivery systems.

Education
