Job summary

Charles Schwerd Restaurants in Glendale, AZ, is seeking a fast, detail-oriented Food Runner to join the Arrowhead Grill team. You will be the crucial final link between the kitchen and guests, ensuring every prime cut and signature side arrives hot, pristine, and exactly as ordered.

In this role, you will deliver dishes promptly, verify items against tickets, and clearly communicate menu details to guests. You will also support servers by clearing tables, refilling drinks, and coordinating

Qualifications

• Experience in a high-volume or fine-dining setting is preferred.
• Must be able to carry heavy oval trays up to 30 lbs and stand for long shifts.
• Excellent speed, coordination, and ability to work under pressure.
• Professionalism, neat appearance and strong teamwork are essential.

Responsibilities

• Deliver dishes promptly at the correct temperature from kitchen to guest tables.
• Verify each dish against tickets to ensure accuracy before serving.
• Explain menu items to guests, including steak cuts, prep styles, and sauces.
• Assist servers by clearing tables, wiping surfaces, and refilling beverages.
• Communicate timing and special dietary requests between servers and kitchen.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver dishes promptly and at the correct temperature from the kitchen line to guest tables.
• Identify and verify every dish against tickets to ensure complete accuracy before serving.
• Articulate menu items clearly to guests upon delivery, including steak cuts, preparation styles, and specialized sauces.
• Support front-of-house staff by clearing empty plates, wiping tables, and replenishing water or bread.
• Maintain communication between servers and the kitchen regarding timing and special dietary requests.

Qualifications & Skills

• Experience: Prior experience in a high-volume or fine-dining restaurant is highly preferred.
• Physical Stamina: Ability to carry heavy oval trays (up to 30 lbs) and stand/walk for long shifts.
• Pace: Exceptional speed, coordination, and the ability to thrive under high-pressure dinner rushes.
• Professionalism: Sharp appearance, polite demeanor, and strong teamwork skills.
