Job summary

JLL in South San Francisco, CA is seeking a Stationary Engineer Apprentice to support operating and maintaining building mechanical systems, including boilers, chillers, HVAC, and electrical systems.

You will assist with repairs, participate in training with the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local No. 39, and help ensure safe, energy-efficient building performance for tenants.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of boilers, chillers, HVAC systems, electrical systems, and building automation
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Physical ability to work in mechanical rooms, climb ladders, and lift up to 50 pounds
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Understanding of OSHA safety regulations and environmental compliance

Responsibilities

• Assist Stationary Engineer, Assistant Chief Engineer and Chief Engineer in duties
• Attend classes/training to obtain certification
• Help operate, maintain and repair boilers, pumps, valves, and distribution lines
• Support operation and maintenance of air compressors, gas distribution lines, and water systems
• Support life safety systems, CMMS, and energy management initiatives
• Maintain inventory for parts and materials and assist with equipment room upkeep
