Job summary

Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD) has an immediate opening for a Station Operator Intern at Sheldon Station in Hallam, Nebraska. The Intern will learn from experienced operators from mid-May to mid-August 2027 and complete basic coal-fired plant operations training while attending turnover meetings.

Incumbent must have completed the first year of college in Energy Generation Operations and will undergo background checks, physicals, drug screening, and safety shoe requirements.

Qualifications

• Must have completed first year of college in Energy Generation Operations or equivalent field.
• Background check, physical, and drug screen required before starting.
• Must wear safety shoes meeting ASTM F2413-05 specs.

Responsibilities

• Learn from experienced Station Operators and mentor under supervision.
• Attend shift turnover meetings and complete basic coal-fired plant operations training.
• Perform rounds with a Station Operator and observe control room operations.
• Execute lockout/tagout reviews and other duties assigned to Station Operators.
