Job summary

Nebraska Public Power District is seeking an Engineering Intern for Sheldon Station in Summer 2027, located in Hallam, Nebraska. The role supports multiple engineering disciplines with hands-on, field-based learning and operations support at Sheldon Station.

Interns will assist in data collection, drawings, drawing revisions, and project field implementation while gaining exposure to asset maintenance, system performance, and reliability improvements in a coal-fired generation environment.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited college/university student pursuing an engineering degree.
• Must be finishing their sophomore year of college.
• All disciplines (mechanical, electrical, civil, structural) are acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Assist Plant Engineers with equipment troubleshooting
• Obtain field data
• Utilize drawings and prepare drawing revisions
• Research equipment/component replacement and upgrade options
• Assist Plant Engineers with project field implementation and contractor oversight
