Job summary

Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD) has an immediate opening for a Station Operator Intern at Sheldon Station, Hallam, Nebraska. The internship runs mid-May to mid-August 2027, with mentorship from experienced operators and hands-on training in coal-fired plant operations.

Applicants must have completed their first year of Energy Generation Operations coursework (SCC-Milford or equivalent) and will undergo a background check, physical, and drug screen before starting.

Qualifications

• Must have completed first year of Energy Generation Operations coursework.
• Background check, physical, and drug screen required before starting.
• Safety footwear meeting ASTM F2413-05 specifications required.

Responsibilities

• Learn and mentor from experienced station operators.
• Attend shift turnover meetings and participate in basic coal-fired plant operations training.
• Perform effective rounds while accompanying a Station Operator.
• Review lockout/tagout procedures and observe control room operations.
• Execute other duties as assigned by Station Operators.
